Today’s notes are from a lecture given by Dr. Oli Wenker, Gary Young’s doctor.  In the lecture he talked about essential oils and how they can provide brain help.

In 2016 Dr. Oli had a brain disease that only affects one person a year worldwide. Couldn’t see clearly or walk. He was losing brain tissue because it was being attacked by antibodies and he also had a Zika infection. This forced him to have double vision and bound to a wheel chair, which sent him on a search of how to support his brain.

Your brain has different parts. In a nutshell, they are:

Frontal part – processes inputs from the outside world

Parietal– processing from the input so you can have an output, such as walking or moving hands.

Temporal lobes – on each side of the brain close to ears. Makes sure the listening skills are enhanced

Occipital- the back part of the brain processes everything that comes into your eyes.

Small brain (cerebellum) – walking and balance

Stem – basic needs like breathing, heart rate, sex drive, hunger, thirst

When cut in half you see in the middle is the limbic system. When you inhale essential oil, itl goes to the olfactory bulbs and directly to the limbic system. The limbic is connected to different parts in your brain and connected to your memory, emotions, hormones, and is active at night when you dream.

What are the best oils to support the brain?

Frankincense, sacred frankincense, sandalwood, cedarwood, helichrysum, peppermint, lemon, geranium and copaiba. Two years after the Zika virus (coupled with Guillain-Barré syndrome), the essential oils supported hDr. Oli’s brain enough that his walking and sight came back.

The brain…

…makes up only 2% of body weight but uses 20% of overall energy in your body.

…uses a lot of blood flow.

…has 90 billion brain cells. Each cell connects with 1000’s of other brain cells. The signaling is about 270 mph.

…transmits electricity and signals – combo of electrical transmission and chemical transmission. Chemicals are the neurotransmitters and are involved in the signals. There’s 2 brain cells – one receives a signal translated into electricity and flows from one cell through the nucleus (cell body), processed there like a computer board, and goes out the other side through the axon. The axon has multiple little “buttons” and those buttons store a bunch of little bubbles, and in the bubbles are the neurotransmitters. So, when the electricity reaches the end of that nerve with all these buttons, it releases these bubbles. They go through a small cleft to the other side and on the other side is a new nerve. That nerve has receptors so when these bubbles come they get excited and generate electricity and a new signal starts. Happens 100K times a second connecting to 40,000 other nerves. Brain power!

Today’s multitasking is not really conducive to focusing. Even if you think you focus very well while you multitask, here is an example to show you that you don’t. A goldfish is basic in brain. Has an attention span of 9 seconds. Humans, with all the technology overload have about an 8 second attention span. What?

-Your genetic code in your body is only about 10% of the entire code. 90% comes from your gut. Bacteria. Microbiome. Look it up. There is a big connection between food, exercise and the brain.

Brain mapping – Did any of you watch the movie Ancient Secrets of Essential Oils? Dr. Oli was the one getting the EEG. He could see different parts of brain and waves while he was doing the EEG. He took the Premium Starter Kit and smelled every oil. It was measured in real time.

How long did it take from his sniff till it was seen on the EEG? 2-3 seconds. Not just immediate in the limbic area but also in other parts of the brain as well. The  smell was processed by the brain immediately with activation on the left frontal part. Left brain processes logic, formulas. Which Premium Starter Kit oil did he use? Peppermint. Peppermint studies show an increase in concentration by 30%

The oil that activated left temporal lobe which increases attention span, listening, and language processing was Lemon

The oils that activated the Limbic system to help calm, slow down and sleep better? StressAway and Lavender

What lit the entire brain up? Thieves and Digize. Spices activate the brain. Rosemary, basil, eucalyptus and cinnamon work quite nicely too.

Many other things we can use for brain – NingXia Nitro promotes brain energy. NingXia Red is a firehose of antioxidants and supports brain function. Mindwise and Omegagize are great choice too. Did you know that 60% of brain is fish oil? Well, the same substance as fish oil, so Omegagize supports the brain well. Some of the ingredients in Powergize can promote healthy testosterone levels and the brain needs it to function. One ingredient in Powergize may prevent pregnancy so be careful

Questions asked after his lecture –

Oils to promote better focus– Cedarwood and Lavender at night – NingXia Nitro, Peppermint and Lemon in the day. Quit eating sugar and eat a diet that is rich in protein and fat. And of course exercise!

As we age, the cause is the hippocampus begins to shrink. Memory and processing goes away because of that.. In studies, they have seen that the hippocampus is increased by exercise. Walk those elderly people 30 minutes a day! Protein, fats and very little sugar. Probiotics. Omegagize NingXia Nitro, NingXia Red can regrow the hippocampus. Continuous use of the oils for brain listed above.
