Introduce Your Pet to Essential Oils
Curious about how essential oils and pets go together?
The GEO Community loves their essential oils and pets. And, there are so many great uses of essential oils that can help support a happy and healthy pet. Your animal can enjoy many of the same benefits as you can through effective use of essential oils. Also, Young Living has many products designed specifically for pets, their Animal Scents line. Learn more about those products HERE.
Before you use essential oils on your pets…
But, there are a few important things that you should know about essential oils and pets before you start using them on your dog, cat or other animal.
5 Things You Should Know Before You Start Using Essential Oils on Your Pet
- When introducing your pet to essential oils, start small with just a drop. You can also wear or diffuse near the pet to help acclimate them to it
- Always dilute heavily with carrier oil, at least 75% and use in moderation
- Each animal (like humans) will respond differently to different oils
- Don’t use the oils near sensitive areas such as their eyes, mouth or nose
- Avoid “hot” oils or high Phenol oils such as Wintergreen, Peppermint, Oregano, Clove and Thyme
