How did Missouri Become Known as the Show Me State?

Missouri is commonly known as the  “Show Me State”.  It got its nickname because the people that live there tend to be very pragmatic and live their lives adhering to simple common sense. Most people attribute the name to Rep. Willard D. Vandiver who in an 1899 speech said, “Frothy eloquence neither convinces nor satisfies me. I’m from Missouri. You’ve got to show me.”

That was a long time ago, but the nickname definitely stuck.  So has the attitude of its residence.  We see that every day working in the St Louis area to help people live more vibrant and healthy lives.  When we are talking about the use of Essential Oils to people in the Show Me State, you have to provide them practical common sense information about how to use them effectively and convincing evidence of the benefits they provide.
